When and how is aFRR activated?
aFRR setpoints are continuously sent via a central control signal (real-time communication) based on frequency deviations from 50.0 Hz. The participating resources are then automatically activated to the corresponding extent.
The activation rate is prorata per actor, i.e. all resources are activated proportionally to the frequency deviation in relation to the called off volume.
For example, two different actors with up-regulation bids of 10 MW and 100 MW are both fully activated at a frequency of 49.9 Hz.
In order to be able to return the frequency to 50.0 Hz, activation also takes place partly based on how long a frequency deviation lasted.
