About Nybro – Hemsjö
Svenska kraftnät is planning a new overhead line between Nybro and Hemsjö to reinforce the national grid for electricity in southeastern Sweden. It is needed because more electricity will be transmitted through the region in the future. With the line, we will reduce the risk of a failure in the grid causing a large power outage.
More electricity will be transmitted through the region
Greater amounts of electricity are transmitted through southeastern Sweden. This is partly because of the new connection NordBalt we are building between Nybro in Sweden and Klaipeda in Lithuania.

The grid needs to be reinforced to reduce the risk of power outages
To cope with the increased load from the new connection the grid around Nybro needs to be strengthened with a new line. The line will ensure that electricity can take other routes if there is an error somewhere in the grid. In this way we reduce the risk that errors in the grid leads to large power outage in the area.
We are planning a new overhead line between Nybro and Hemsjö
In order to strengthen the national grid Svenska kraftnät is planning to build an overhead line in southeastern Sweden. The overhead line will go from Nybro in Nybro municipality and Hemsjö to the municipality of Olofström - a distance of about 91 kilometers.
Facts
Svenska kraftnät is planning a new 400 kV overhead line between Nybro in Nybro municipality and Hemsjö in the municipality of Olofström. To reduce the risk of power outages in the region when there is an error in the grid, the national grid for electricity needs to be expanded. The line is about 91 km.

The project has been classified by EU as a Projects of Common 
Interest (PCI). That means the project is of special importance for the European internal energy market and for reaching the EU's energy policy objectives of affordable, secure and sustainable energy.
