We also support research and development within the fields of dam safety, as well as risk- and vulnerability issues for the power system.

The research and development operations are for the most part conducted in the form of commissions for the part-owned development companies STRI and Elforsk. Svenska Kraftnät also supports research projects, graduate projects and master's theses at technical universities.

The budget for research and development is SEK 35 million for year 2013.
